[M-OOM] Milliways - Bastila's Room

It's by chance that Revan's hoping Bastila might be staying at Milliways (and not avoiding him in the Force for whatever reason) this particular evening as he walks through the closet door on Alderaan and into the familiar bar.

He'd been planning to head there for a drink or two anyway, in an attempt to unwind after a very long day of the girls crying over almost everything, when he had the sudden urge to see her. Or maybe it wasn't all so sudden, but rather a thought that had been at the back of his mind for the past few weeks or so since he had last talked to her.

Either way, when he could no longer sense Bastila anywhere in their galaxy, it left him with one place to look: Milliways.

It's weird because, though she knows better, Bastila still misses their past together. Sometime. She knows it's hopeless, she knows he's married and a father, she knows all they can have is friendship now, and, after months of bitterness and anger, she's finally been doing better lately. She doesn't want to ruin it.

And being alone together in a bedroom, wearing only a bathrobe as she did moments before... it was risking ruining it. She doesn't want to bring attention to it, though, so she doesn't suggest moving elsewhere and just stay on her chair, at the far end of the room.

"What's up with the girls?" Bastila asks, remembering the night she held one in her arms, here in the Bar.

Revan shrugs. "Other than being little pains today? Nothing really," and, of course, he says that their pains in the most fondest of ways possible.

Every now and then he might ramble on about the girls for a few minutes more, but today he's exhausted of them and decides that a change in subject is in order: "How're things at the Enclave?"

Bastila sees how fond he really is in his eyes and smile and hears it in his voice, but she also feels it through their Bond. There's no doubt about how much he loves his family.

But when he changes topic, she doesn't insist and just follows his lead. "Busy, as always, but good. New children arrived recently to begin their training." Slowly, the Jedi Order rebuilts itself, one member at a time.

"Speaking of the little initiates, have you thought about taking one on as a Padawan?" Revan asks, honestly curious to know if she's thought about it or not before.

Bastila shrugged. "I barely feel like a Master most days," she began. "It's one thing to teach a group of children, but taking on a Padawan is much more intense, a deeper relationship based on trust and leading by example, and I'm not sure I would be good. Not yet."

Revan stretches out on the bed, an elbow propping him up on his side. "I don't know. I think you'd be able to handle. Besides, you'd be learning as much from the Padawan as the Padawan would be learning from you. You'd learn to trust one another and how to lead and follow, right?"

"That's true," agrees Bastila, sitting tight on her chair, far from the bed (which looked much more comfortable).

"I wasn't the best person to convey the principles of the Jedi Code to a young mind, these past few months." She'd been a wreck, period. "Maybe soon, once I'm confident that I can live it well enough to do so."

After the last purge, there'd been no old Masters left. Bastila had ended up picking up the pieces with Kira and Atton and Mical, trying to rebuild the Order from its ruins. There'd been no proper trials to become a Master, and it left Bastila feeling as though she didn't really deserve to be one. Self-proclaimed Masters aren't exactly the norm, after all, and it bothers her, deep down, though she knows it had been forced upon them by the situation. Still. It doesn't help assuage her worry that she's not really ready, that she would not have been made a Master if the Order hadn't been almost destroyed.

"I understand. It's a trial that you have to be ready to face and - will you relax? You're making me tense," he says, noting how tightly she sits in the chair. He grins to soften the words that might otherwise seem harsh. "Please?"

Bastila sits even straighter as he speaks. 'I'm making you tense?' she almost says, though she manages to stop the words before they pass her lips. Her haughty expression makes it plenty clear to Revan that she is not pleased, though.

"I gave you the comfortable bed, as a good host does. You don't get to complain about where - or how - I end up sitting."

Revan laughs. "I'm not complaining. Just saying. Besides, wouldn't you feel more comfortable if you did? Kriff, I'll even sit on the floor if you want the bed."

Bastila relaxes a little, but just a little. "That would make me a terrible host, which I dare to believe I am not. No, no, keep the bed, I'm quite fine here."

Wishing to take his mind off from her comfort (or incomfort), she goes on and asks, "What are your own plans?" She's been curious about what he does lately, other than take care of the babies, but never had a chance to ask him about it before.

"You mean other than babies and things around the house?" Revan shrugs (as best one can when laying on one's side, that is). "I write a little. Mostly notes that I can remember about the Sith, that sort of thing." He snorts, thinking on it: "My life is a much quieter one these days."

Bastila wonders if he likes it that way or if he gets bored and restless. The Revan she knew would have got bored and restless, but he'd changed, she could see that.

"Is that a good thing?" she asks.

It takes a few seconds for Revan to form an answer to that. "Now? Yea, it is. I mean, it got to be really difficult a couple of weeks ago, but someone talked some sense into me and I'm happy with the way things are now."

"What happened?" she asks, wondering who 'talked some sense into him,' as he puts it. She's glad for him that he's happy now, but she can't help but wonder if it'll last, considering he admits himself that he wasn't, just a few weeks back. Hopefully he'll get something to keep him busy before that feeling comes back.

What happened? Revan sighs. "I...had left Kira and the girls. We were fighting, a lot, and we took a break for a few days. I ended up talking to Ranthus while I was gone and he said something that got me thinking.

And it'll last," he assures her, because he can feel her doubt through their Bond. "It feels...different this time. I'm not thinking about it in terms of being stuck on Alderaan forever anymore, as I was."

It's just another chapter of his life that'll end when it ends.

Bastila is stunned into silence. Revan had left Kira and the girls? He'd left his wife and daughters? Oh, how often she'd dreamed of that, in the first few weeks after his return, when she'd learned the extent of his treason. Yes, she'd dreamed that he would wake up and realize what an awful error he'd made, leave Kira and come back to her. It had been nothing but a dream; she'd soon found out it would never happen.

Or so she'd thought. But apparently, he could leave her. Them.

Time has passed since then, though. Now, the news is not hopeful but shocking.

"What did Ranthus say?" she asks finally.

He can feel her shock. And it had surprised him too at how easily he seemed to be able to leave them. Of course, it was the being gone that had been the most difficult, just as it was when he had left Bastila and Carth and then rest of his newfound family five years ago.

As for what Ranthus said: "That I don't always need to be fighting some battle anymore. That, essentially, I should just take the time and enjoy what I fought so hard for."

Bastila can hardly shake the surprise. She nods when he tells her what Ranthus said. "It makes sense. How was your father?"

"He seems good," Revan says, toying with the bed's comforter that he lays on. It's...very soft. Or something. "He's busy a lot, I guess. But your mother, have you talked to her?"

"I haven't seen her in a long while, but we talked over the holotransceiver last month," she answers. "She was good."

"And you, did you meet your father in person or was it a conversation over the holotransceiver? Where is he by now, in fact?"

"Not in person, no. He was on... Kriff, where was he?" Revan laughs, scrubbing a hand across his face. He can't remember the name of the planet. "Somewhere or another with a D, I think."

"Kriff? That's a planet I hadn't heard of." Bastila laughs.

"Kriff off, you know what I meant," Revan says with a good natured grin and laugh.

"It was too good to pass," Bastila replies, still chuckling.

"I imagine if there was one called Kriff though, it'd be a lot like Nar Shaddaa."

"Haha, most probably, yes!"

"Not that we need another one..."

"You don't like Nar-Shaddaa?" Bastila asks, with fake innocence.

Revan grins. "Oh come on, what's not to like? Seedy cantinas, brothels, the overwhelming stench of the streets... It's gotten better though, I guess, since the Exchange was destabilized. Haven't really been there lately though."

"Even with a drastic improvement, it would still be awful," declares Bastila, wrinkling her nose in disgust. She hates Nar-Shaddaa."

"True. And there's no doubt that another organization'll pop up eventually to take control. It's usually how things go, isn't it?"

Bastila nods. "Yes, always. No rest for the naughty, it seems. Always some more credits to make on the back of honest - and not so honest - people."

"'No rest for the naughty', huh?" he quotes back, drawing out the word 'naughty' and quirking a smirk. He can't help teasing her.

Bastila fights back the blushing that spreads over her cheeks, but in vain. His comment reminds her of the situation: they're in her bedroom and he's on her bed... at least she isn't. She'd still rather not see Kira walk in the room right this moment.

At her blush: "Sorry, sorry. I'm mean." He doesn't sound very apologetic though.
