Most of Revan's time searching for the True Sith is spent on the Hawk traveling through hyperspace where everything seems quieter and colder, like now as he was on his way home. It's during those times that he misses Kira and Ellia and Kaelyn (and, kriff, even Mana) the most. He misses them, of course, most of the time, a constant ache in his chest at thought of what he was missing, but when all he had was the beeping of the consoles before him and the expanse of stars streaming past, his thoughts wander to home and he misses them.

He thinks about the silly things he wasn't there for: Ellia and Kaelyn spinning in circles to make their dresses flow or Kira with her nose sprinkled with flour from baking. And then he thinks about the more important things he missed, the ones that clutch at his heart and twist at it: the first time the girls walked or uttered words or Kira woke up from a nightmare and he wasn't there for her to cling to.

It's an erratic, alarmed beeping from the console that breaks his thoughts now though and he sits up in the pilot chair, boots dropping back to the floor from where they were perched on the console, and his fingers dance across buttons and controls. T3-M4 comes rolling into cockpit, chirping and beeping incessantly in warning.

"I know, I know," he mutters in response to the droid as he shoots out of the chair and dashes out of the cockpit while the Hawk shudders and drops out of hyperspace. He's in the engine room within moments, surveying the sparks and smoke emitting from the aging hyperdrive. T3-M4 comes up behind him, a low whining noise accompanying him at the sight, and Revan sighs, rubbing at his eyes.

"Please tell me we're close to a system?"

T3-M4 chirps at him in response, but Revan is wandering back out to the cockpit to look at the navigational charts himself. At their current speed with the sublight engines, they were two weeks out from the nearest planet; a (fortunately) familiar Outer Rim world that Revan knew would have the parts to repair the hyperdrive.

Still. He sighs, collapsing into the pilot chair. It looked like he was going to be missing a little more.

As soon as Revan is on the planet, he goes to see if he can send a wave to Kira to let her know that he was going to be gone a little longer. But there's nothing close enough to relay the transmission as far as it needs to go. He goes to buy the parts he needs next, but they don't have one of the parts and a new "shipment" wasn't coming in for another week, meaning Revan was going to be stranded a while longer.

He heads back to the Hawk then, ignoring the curious glances from some of the townspeople that recognize him and with the available parts in tow. He sets to work on fixing the 'drive as much he can before making a small meal that he eats alone in the main compartment before taking a quick nap that is interrupted all too soon.

He wakes before he even hears the sound of the heavy boots on the metal plating, so in tune with the Force that he can sense the angry and bitter man coming. But he stays slumped in his chair, arms crossed over his chest, boots on the table, and eyes closed until he feels the press of the blaster against his head. He can sense the man shaking.

"You don't deserve them," the man snarls as Revan's eyes flicker open and from the corner of his vision he can see the man shaking almost violently from pent up emotions. But Revan, despite the blaster to his head, senses no danger from the man; he wouldn't do it, no matter how much he wanted to. "You killed so many you don't deserve to have one."

"I know," and Revan has learned to say it in such a way, with such sincerity, and mean it that it causes the man to step back, his hand that holds the blaster dropping to his side. He doesn't look at the man who now wipes at his eyes or watch him as the man slinks back out the Hawk, he stares straight ahead and wonders how many that has been now.

"She's been in bed all day," Mana is saying to him as Revan carries Ellia and Kaelyn through the small corridor that leads to the bedroom. It took an extra three weeks, but he's home. "She misses you, they all do," she finishes, her voice dropping to a hushed whisper as he nudges open the door to the bedroom and slips into the room. Mana returns to the kitchen, fading out of sight.

Kira's in bed, just as Mana had said, facing away from the door and, what Revan guesses, staring at the wall. He never took his boots off at the door; he had an armful of Ellia and Kaelyn before he could, so his footsteps thump heavily against the floor as he makes his way over to her. Their bed sinks beneath his added weight as he sits down.

Kira sighs, rolling over, and looks at him as though he was a dream. "Did I fall asleep again?" she murmurs.

Ellia rubs her nose into shirt, murmuring 'Dada', and Kaelyn is giggling into his shoulder and Revan grins as he reaches out to stroke Kira's cheek. "No, I'm home."

Kira sits up, grabbing him quickly, her arms encircling all of them, and he hugs her back, but the moment lasts as long as it takes for Ellia to grab Kira's hair, tugging hard.

"Ow ow ow ow. Let go of mommy's hair, ow ow ow."

Revan chuckles, prying Ellia's fingers from the locks of hair, and sets Kaelyn and her on the bed before pulling Kira close to him once more. It was good to be home. Even when Mana comes in and orders them all to eat.
